Vanilla Buttercream

Vanilla Buttercream

Amanda Shenk

Vanilla Buttercream Frosting:

1/2 Cup Unsalted Butter (Room Temp. This is an entire stick of butter)

5 cups Powdered Sugar

2 tsps Vanilla

1/4 cup Milk

  1. Beat the room temperature butter until it is fluffy
  2. Then add in the powder sugar. Slowly. Try a cup at a time.
  3. Then add in the milk and vanilla.

Thats it! Such an easy recipe but I am absolutely in love with this recipe. It is my go to when I want a nice buttercream. There are many different types of buttercream but this one is going to be the easiest and one of the fastest ones. I usually double this but if you’re just using a like 9x13 pan for the cake then you only need this recipe one time.

I made a two tier cake and did a dirty icing layer before I did the decorative layer. With that I needed to actually do 3 times the recipe so I could also decorate. I had left overs but I also needed that for another dessert. Birthday’s man, they need lots of icing. But I probably could have gotten away with the two tier cake and only a double batch of this icing. Also I know I labeled this recipe as “Frosting” and I keep saying “Icing” but thats the proper term and I keep speaking with what I was brought up saying. So I will continue but it’s a Frosting.

Any who, this recipe is good for any dessert that you need a butter cream for. If you want to flavor it, then just switch out the vanilla for the flavor of choice. If you want to just have a vanilla then you can just keep the recipe as is!

Now make sure to check out the chocolate cake recipe to see what we paired this Frosting with!
