Blueberry Syrup

1 cup Blueberries

1 cup Sugar

1 cup Water

Splash of Vanilla

  1. Put the blueberries, sugar and water into a pot and bring it to a boil.
  2. Once it has reached boiling levels, bring the temp down so that the mixture will simmer. For the next 15 minutes, stir randomly and make sure the sugar dissolves.
  3. Once 15 minutes is finished, take the mixture off the heat and add in the vanilla. Stir to combine.
  4. Let mixture sit for another 15 minutes.
  5. Once this time is finished, strain the mixture.
  6. Keep liquid in an air tight container and the berries put into their own container. (I have plans for this)

I am going to start with the berries that are left over. Cause, y’all, I had an idea that I am downright excited to try out. My sourdough lovers need to try this out. Ok, we are going to take a slice of sourdough, toast it and then spread cream cheese over top. The top it with the berries that are left over from this recipe. Its a play on a danish. But shall we also say, we can obviously use this for different ideas too. I am thinking sourdough add ins, actual danish, cookies, pancakes, waffle toppings, etc. This is basically a compote made at the same time we were making a syrup!! So really this is a two in one recipe!!

Ok so now for this syrup. There are so many different recipes y’all can add it to!! Now my brain goes to drinks. I am thinking matcha, tea, sparkling water, etc. But my biggest and the one I really want to try out is Bones Coffee mixed with this and a protein shake. Ok, I know, that may not sound as exciting as it is in my head but let me tell you the Bones Coffee flavor. You need to grab the Blueberry Blast Cake.

Now I am not an espresso person, but if you are, this may work better. We are going to treat the standard brewed coffee like a shot of espresso. So we aren’t going to go crazy on how much coffee we add to the mix. But treat this also like a latte. So we have the vanilla Gainful protein shake as the base, add in the desired amount of this syrup (its up to how sweet you want it.), mix those and then top with the Blueberry Blast Cake coffee!!! If you want to get extra fancy, make cold foam and add this syrup into the mix to give another blueberry layer. I personally am not that fancy and fun, so I will be skipping that step.

I have another syrup in mind but I am not sure it will be so much a syrup consistency. I am thinking it will be more of a mocha syrup style but I haven’t fully figured that one out yet. So more ideas coming but I gotta fully figure them out and test run them first!
