Yet Another Update!

Yet Another Update!

Amanda Shenk

Good morning again fam. It has been a few weeks since we last wrote out the blog to update you and we are back for a short update on what is going on. This one I know wont have a ton of details as the big details will be coming in a few weeks.

As we discussed before, I went to a Functional Medicine Neurologist at the end of March and we officially had our results meeting this past week. As we suspected and as she was very confident to say, I do indeed have POTS. I have had POTS since as long as I have had Cyclical Vomiting Syndrome. So the ripe age of 5. Now like I said before, this was so not known back in the 90’s. We were fortunate enough to get a diagnosis of CVS! So in all of this process, please understand that I am in no way, shape or form upset with my parents or team of doctors during the time of treatment as a kid. I think we absolutely nailed what we could with what we knew. But now it is at a point where I am so off kilter that I am having struggles randomly all the time.

Through 4 days, 3 sessions a day, we are hoping that we will be able to get my brain and gut axis back on track. I have signs of inflammation throughout my body as well. I personally knew this was the case but I could not figure it out on my own as to where the inflammation was located. I figured it may be my stomach but wasn’t sure. Well we found it and its not my stomach. So we also have started my journey to start supplements to assist my health as well. I will be taking 5 new supplements and am very familiar with each one. Now the really fun and cool thing is the group I am using to get my supplements is actually the company that my husband actually worked for many years back. So it was kinda cool and we know the group we are getting supplements from. It kinda gives a relaxing moment to know the quality too. I will start the supplements when they arrive at the house in small spread out stages. You don’t want to just take all of the supplements at once and have your body freak out. It’s best to slowly introduce them and make sure you also don’t have any sort of reactions to them.

All of this will be finished by the end of April and the supplements will take about 3 months until we start to assess how they are doing with the body. The biggest hope is that we can finally get my vitamin d level back up where it needs to be. I am so ready to get that up and hopefully be able to more so rely on the good ole sunshine. But thats me getting ahead of myself.

If I am lucky, I will be updating y’all as I go with this process but I am not promising anything as I know how tired I felt after the intake testing. I know the intense therapy is going to be more eye movement type therapy and I know I will be tired by the end of this. I just am praying that after 4 days we will see the gut brain axis back on track and I can be finished with this therapy! I am hopefully on that front. Now the rest of POTS, yea I know this will be an uphill battle but I am willing to see how this one goes.

*disclaimer, I wrote this a few weeks ago and thought I had posted it but I did not. So this is from a bit ago but wanted to share!*
