Thankful

It’s that time of year where we all really think about everything that we are thankful for and sometimes we say one thing every day in social media. It’s a time to really reflect and remember what we love about our lives. We get our hearts into a great spot before all of the Holidays arrive and the craziness starts. But I think for next year I am planning to look at everything differently. I did start this year but next year I plan to take intentional steps to remain thankful every year.

I am so thankful for the life that I live but the Holidays sometimes bring heart ache due to family loss. But recently I started to think about how its very apparent that lots of thankful feeling are only made in the last two months of the year. Why wait until then to actually feel these emotions? Why not feel thankful for the entire year? Who says this has to be the mindset for myself? Yet that’s just kind of how it seems to go. The thankful time is not happening until now.

This year I have started to realize how thankful I really am for all that God has done for my family and for myself. I have really been able to start looking at everything in a different light but I know I have much more room to grow. I have noticed that I really am just so thankful to watch our homestead grow into what God really wants for us but it’s such a beautiful process to see how the land changes.

Next year though, shoot maybe even starting today, I plan to start looking at every day and feel thankful for at least one thing every day. It can be anything. I know todays weather is so nice compared to yesterday and I truly am thankful for that. But it also can be big where maybe a big job opportunity popped up and I am thankful the opportunity. I started to realize that the simple act of changing my mind set can actually change myself in a good way. I typically am a positive person in every day life but maybe on those not so good days it will bring a piece of joy to myself when I think of what all I am thankful for. If you literally look around there are so many things or people or pets to be thankful for! That’s my goal. To continue to be thankful everyday.

As we get closer to Thanksgiving I want to take the time to say I hope you all have something to be thankful for. May you be able to continue after the Holidays with this mindset and maybe it’ll help you to be a little more positive. My challenge is that you take some time to make a list of 5 things you are thankful for and keep that in mind for the rest of the year. Try to add something to that list daily. Everyday add one item and watch the list grow. At the end of the year you will have a pretty decent size list to look back on! I plan to start today too!
