Well we have a small update but its not the best update sadly. Let’s get into it.
We got the call back on her blood test and sadly all of her current allergies are showing low level positive. Meaning she is still allergic to these foods. So sadly Sky will need to continue to avoid the foods currently and carry around her epi-pen a little bit longer.
Now the small bit of hope we have is that her doctor is willing to do controlled introduction tests in the office for Sky. So we are going to start this process in just a few weeks. I think the biggest food we would like to get back would be the peanuts but at this point, we don’t need to change what we are doing. I also raised concern about how she reacted to coconut lotion in the past, so we are going to do a controlled test on that as well at some point. This would be something that I am highly desiring that she grew out of. This one would actually give us a big break in life.
For her tree nut allergies though, her doctor did say that the issue is Sky’s body is having a hard time breaking down the proteins. So they feel if she did roasted peanuts or hazelnuts, then maybe she wouldn’t react so much. The game plan is to try roasted peanuts for her first introduction. We will then be there for 2-4 hours waiting to see what happens. At which point they will further direct us on what to do next.
So not much to be said but we do have more work to do and possibly she will build a tolerance to these allergies. Who knows, but we will see as we continue on this journey.
