Overall, We Are Doing Fine

Overall, We Are Doing Fine

Amanda Shenk

Good morning Fam.

Let’s grab our beverage of choice and sit down together. I think its time to do a little “what’s going on at the homestead” update. There have been a few changes over the last few months and we haven’t really dived too heavily into everything. But I am sitting outside in the most beautiful weather and thinking, we really should do that!

So let’s start with outside. We are sadly coming to a close on some of the garden items. Jeremy thought he saw a second round sprouting so I may end up eating my words. But at the current moment, I am ok with not continuing to can but also just fine if we get another round and I have to continue. Jeremy found two amazing Facebook market deals recently and now the kids are proud owners of a slide and massive pool. Both projects took at least a week of work to get them finished but the kids absolutely love them both. The slide we made into a water slide so the kids had something to do outside because we were waiting for a steal of a deal for a pool. I just couldn’t justify spending money at Walmart, getting a new pool for it to only last one season. It just made sense to save the money and get a big pool instead. Well sure enough at the beginning of August Jeremy found one and went out and tore it down. Let us also say that lady was a sweetheart and made sure Jeremy stayed hydrated through it all!

Next up outside, we are pulling away from the animals and going to heavily focus just on the garden. We have just come to the conclusion that we can not keep up with animals on top of taking care of my health. So the easiest fix would be to walk away from the animal game outdoors. All dogs are obviously staying.

The last outdoor update would be that Jeremy got my truck up and running in time for us to take his truck bed off for him to fix. This was needed before we went on our next trip with the camper. So this past week, he has really taken the time to work on that while the kids have been having a blast in the pool. Mom has a fresh tattoo otherwise I would be in the pool with the kids too.

Indoors we have been a bit hectic. We have been canning up a storm and baking like crazy. We have been focusing on making our bedroom an oasis and cave. Any time I feel horrible I prefer to feel like I am in a cave. This new paint does exactly that. The rest of the house…. Well that kinda took a back burner and now we are working on cleaning up. There have been a lot of just putting things down because we are working on projects and will need that tool later. But now we are at a point that we need to work on getting the space back. The hallway is struggling so bad that soon we will not be using it. I have no problem admitting that. I just need to get some time to sit down and deep clean/organize. To which I am hoping to do so next week. (That would be the week this is posted)

We have started up with school again. Usually we do year round but with my flare being literally the entire summer, we didn’t get the chance to do school. So the kids got a proper school break. Now we just spent the time finishing up what we had been working on and next week we will be diving even deeper into the curriculum. The kids are already not a fan. Haha. I get it buddies but we gotta do school!!! We gotta learn! So I am hoping my little fresh baked goodies each day will help some. But I know that excitement will wear off at some point. I’m just gonna keep hoping it won’t!!

I think that wraps up everything that has been going on. It’s that strange mix of not a lot but at the same time, it was a lot. Well I would say it was a lot on Jeremy. That dude has been working his butt off trying to keep up with the projects. I on the other hand have not been helping much with them. Just here and there. He has really made the summer for the kids!!

Ok fam, thank you for the chat. I hope you all have a lovely day today and have an amazing week too! I am ready to see what this week brings us!!
