This month has been a tad bit of a crazy one but I would also say a lot of adventures were to be had. I mean I genuinely enjoyed them all even though there was some not so great times! I’m about two seconds away from an example but Im like “woah self, just chill out and tell the story.” So let’s do that!
The month started off strong with Jeremy getting some time to work on his chest tattoo and the dude has one last session on it before it is done. The last part though is at a sensitive section so he really wants to give himself a minute before he tries to get the work done. Then we had a wonderful time with friends watching some 4th of July fireworks before Jeremy and the kids headed off the next day to Williamsburg. While they were away, this started the journey for Mandy working on getting prescribed a continuous glucose monitor to watch how my blood sugar plays with Cyclical vomiting syndrome.
The next week we spent some time just catching up from the family trip and ended up making a trip to see some friends in VA on the weekend. It was about 2 hours from our house that we drove but sadly this day ended with Mandy struggling with her health. Thankfully two days before, I was able to pick up the Continuous glucose monitor and started being able to tract my levels. So while I felt nauseated and like I was about to pass out (3 times to be exact), I was able to see my glucose levels were bottoming out pretty good. Sadly our friend had to witness me in the thick of being sick. She saw the sluggishness, the nauseated vibes, me shaking from glucose and my body being exhausted and she saw the brain fog. Thankfully she seemed to power through it and truly understood that it just happens. We managed to get home and get Mandy into bed!
The next week we spent a few more days of Mandy being sick and resting but also made time for hair cuts, errands and slowly started back into the routine of life. The biggest struggle is to get back into the routine because it is so easy to justify being lazy and not doing anything. I can sit around nonstop because of fatigue but I know thats not actually going to help my body. I do need to get up and move. But we did listen to said body and didn’t go crazy on recovery time. Someone once put it into great perspective, they said “your pushing to get back to every day life but in reality you’re also pushing to get close to your next episode.” Never thought of it like that but now that I heard it, I can’t unhear it. Like thank you for that knock over the head.
Anyways, that weekend, we ended up taking a nice stroll at the farmers market that we have been wanting to visit for a while. Then headed back home for a more chill day to enjoy together. Also wanted to make sure we took the time to get some much needed rest because the next day we took a day trip to the beach! We went with some of our friends and spent the entire day at Oak Island beach. It was such a nice time! We thoroughly enjoyed being able to take an entire day to be away from the house and spending time where we feel a sense of calm. The beach is like a home away from home for us and we love being able to go whenever we can. Now we are at a point where we feel comfortable doing a simple day trip and thats exactly what we did. We packed our food for the day and I’m not gonna lie, we packed way too much. But thats the issue I would rather have. I don’t want to be there and the kids ask for food. I would rather have it on hand and ready!
The following week ended up being a bit of a crazy one too. Monday we thought we would take the time to relax a little more than we had been. Well on the way home from the chiropractor, Mandy helped a group of people capture two dogs that were running in the middle of the road. Thankfully we were able to reunite them with their owners. Tuesday we spent the time on our big project, which was to clear out the attic and really do a big clean out. We had so much up there that we didn’t use and that was our cue to get it cleaned up and moved out. We made a pile for donations, selling and trash. Thankfully we downsized to about a quarter of what we originally had up in the attic. I was really surprised on that one. It did take a few days until we finished with the last few boxes but we got it done!!! Then we spent the weekend hanging out with friends, going to the market and cleaning up. We also managed to make a batch of marinara sauce, actually two batches, then we dehydrated herbs and onions. We managed to cram in a lot of random little things into the end of the month for the homestead!
July had been a bit of a difficult month but I will say it ended on a strong note. We really did pick up from the episode and managed to keep pushing through. But my hope is that August will be better and less medical struggles if possible!
